UNION CUSTOMS CODE – UCC

You may have heard about it, you may have read about it but what is it?

On 1st May 2016 the UCC came into force, replacing the Community Customs Code (CCC), it is essentially a new set of customs duty legislative regulations.

How does it affect you as an importer?

The new Code means:

  • You will have to provide a guarantee for the operation of duty reliefs such as Inward Processing (IP) or other Special Procedures;
  • The absence of Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) accreditation may result in additional cost;
  • There will be a requirement to provide a Bill of Discharge (BoD) for End Use goods;
  • There will be customs valuation changes, such as the conditions relating to the liability to duty for royalty payments.
